United States History – Semester 1

United States History – Semester 1 covers American history from the pre-Columbian era to the dawn of the 20th century.

The course examines the founding of the United States based on principles of liberty and freedom. It explains the roots of the American Revolution and the work of the Founding Fathers. The course chronicles the effects of Manifest Destiny, immigration, and industrialization; it also highlights individuals and movements that have shaped America.

Upon completion of this course, students will have gained an understanding of:

  • Major topics in American history;
  • The political, economic, cultural heritage of the United States; and
  • The diversity of the American experience and how it has shaped the nation’s democratic way of life.
