Students learn about the fundamentals of science and laboratory investigations. This course introduces the student to the fundamentals of Chemistry where the student learns about the different states of matter, atomic theory, quantum theory and radioactivity. There is an exhaustive discussion about the periodic table and the various elements in the table. The student also studies about the molecular structure and about ionic compounds and covalent bonds. Students will understand the various aspects of chemical reactions and stoichiometry. Several virtual labs enable the students to see the concepts virtually.
Note: This course is not designed for ELL (English Language Learners) students. ELL students may enroll in this course ONLY if they have adequate mentor support at their home school and are able to fulfill all course requirements.
