Red Comet’s brand new high school elective "Digital Photography I: Creating Images with Impact!" is launched to supplement the current online curriculum. Photography is both an art and a science and often involves significant practice to create durable images. Photography is used extensively in art, media, business, science, manufacturing, mass communication, political movements and for recreational purposes. The most memorable moments of history are the ones captured in photographs.
What makes some photographs so memorable while others hardly catch the eye? Often, we wonder why our photographs did not capture the moment that we saw with our eyes. The Digital Photography I course focuses on the basics of photography, including building an understanding of aperture, shutter speed, lighting, and composition. Students learn about the history of photography and basic camera functions. Students use the basic techniques of composition and camera functions to build a portfolio of images – which includes capturing people, landscapes, close-up, and action photographs.
