Red Comet’s brand new elective “Anthropology II: More Human Mysteries Uncovered” is launched as part of the company’s broad efforts to introduce a rich mixture of enrichment courses that supplement the existing high school curriculum. The aim of anthropology is to use a broad approach to gain an understanding of our past and present so that we can understand what the future holds for us. Anthropology helps us better understand cultures around the world and their significance through different time periods.
Weaving concepts from humanities, social sciences and natural sciences, this course address the problems humans face in biological, social and cultural life. Students study global cultures and the ways that humans have made sense of their world. The course examines some of the ways that different cultures understood and gave meaning to different stages of life and death. Students explore the creation of art within cultures and how cultures evolve and change over time. Finally, the concepts and insights learned from the study of anthropology are applied to several cultures that we find thriving in the world today.
