Red Comet offers a complete online program that is both rigorous and engaging. Red Comet is approved by the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) in Washington State as a “Multi-District Online Course Provider” and as a “Multi-District Online School Program Provider”. Red Comet’s online program excels not only in the breadth of its offering but also has received the best ratings for student satisfaction in Washington State. Red Comet’s online learning is engaging and presents even the most challenging topics in a way that students can understand. Students taking Red Comet's online high school classes are challenged using a variety of learning techniques which makes learning interesting while keeping them motivated to complete their courses within the allotted schedule.
Red Comet teachers tailor instruction based on the student’s needs. The teacher tries to engage the student using a communication facility that the student is most comfortable with (e.g. live chat, email, online class session, personal phone call). The student determines how and what instruction is delivered by the teacher.
When receiving instruction from teachers, students may choose to get into an email dialog with their teacher on specific areas, or they may choose to participate in an online class session. These online sessions are chaired by the teacher and may be attended by other students who are enrolled in the same course as well. Alternately, students may choose to receive instruction from the teacher via phone call.
“Red Comet’s communication platforms encourage active involvement between both parties – the teacher and the student. All forms of communications result in some sort of engaging dialog that is aimed at clarifying the curriculum to the student,” said Dr. Jay Srinivasan, Managing Director of Red Comet.
“Red Comet not only emphasizes communication between students and Red Comet teachers but also between Red Comet staff and schools and parents. Red Comet works closely with the schools with which it partners. Our enhanced communication platform allows Red Comet to keep schools and teachers informed on the progress of the student at all times. Also, parents are encouraged to contact Red Comet staff using any communication feature that they are most comfortable with,” said Ms. Sapna Ganeshan, President of Red Comet.
Students throughout the country use Red Comet’s high school classes that include all core subjects – Language Arts, Science, Mathematics and Social Studies, as well as numerous high school electives. A variety of students use Red Comet’s online learning program – students in need of credit recovery, students attending public high schools who cannot attend all of their high school classes, students attending private schools who are looking for electives or Advanced Placement classes, home school high school students who need help in specific subject areas, athletes, students with part-time jobs etc.
