This course introduces the student to the Spanish language. The student learns about the history of the Spanish language and the importance of learning it. The course teaches the student the Spanish language beginning from the alphabet. The student develops new vocabulary based on cognates and learns the basic rules of the language with the help of English translations. The audios provided in the course help the student hear the words and learn how to pronounce them correctly. At the end of this course, the student will know some of the grammar and be able to recognize, understand and write simple words and phrases in Spanish. This course uses the English language to teach the student the grammar and other rules of the Spanish language. With the help of English translations, the student learns to read and write in the Spanish language. The student is provided with a lot of audio support so that they learn to correctly pronounce the words and phrases in Spanish. At the end of this course, the student will know most of the grammar and other rules of the Spanish language and be able to read, understand and write simple sentences in Spanish.
Note: This course is not designed for ELL (English Language Learners) students. ELL students may enroll in this course ONLY if they have adequate mentor support at their home school and are able to fulfill all course requirements.
