Red Comet offers a complete online high school program that is both rigorous and engaging. Red Comet, which was approved as a “Multi-District Online Course Provider” by OSPI-DLD in May 2011, is now thrilled to announce that it has been approved as an “Online School Program Provider” by OSPI-DLD. This marks an important milestone for Red Comet.
Red Comet is an online high school course provider. Students throughout the country use Red Comet’s high school classes that include all the core subjects as well as numerous high school electives. A variety of students use Red Comet’s online learning program – students in need of credit recovery; students attending public high schools who need additional credits to graduate; students attending private schools who are looking for electives; home schooled high school students; student athletes; students with part-time jobs; students who dropped out of school; etc.
OSPI-DLD’s objective is to improve the quality of online education in Washington State. Approved online course providers are certified based on the rigor of their curriculum and the quality of the overall program. Red Comet’s online program excels not only in the breadth of its offering but also in its overall student satisfaction. Red Comet’s online learning is engaging and presents even the most difficult topics in a way that students can easily comprehend. Students taking these high school classes are challenged using a variety of learning techniques which makes learning fun while keeping them motivated to complete their courses on schedule.
“This is a key step for our company. Being approved as an online school program provider by OSPI-DLD puts us at par with some of the very best online learning institutions in the State of Washington. Schools and parents can now use our program knowing that they are getting the very best with regards to curriculum, support and online learning” said Dr. Jay Srinivasan, Managing Director of Red Comet.
“As part of this certification, Red Comet will now be able to partner with public school districts in Washington to operate an “Affiliate Online School Program” catering to students across the state, or operate a “Single District Online School Program” catering to students from the partner school district. This presents an exciting opportunity to both the school district and Red Comet since both can now team together to help students who want to graduate from high school and are in need of self-paced online high school classes” said Ms. Sapna Ganeshan, President of Red Comet.
Red Comet’s core courses are also approved by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). All Red Comet course credits for high school classes are accepted by most High Schools throughout the United States of America. This applies to credit recovery as well. Aspiring athletes can now use the comprehensive Red Comet online curriculum towards NCAA eligibility for collegiate athletics.
An Online School Program is a full- or part-time sequential online program run by a Washington State public school district, serving students across the state. Students are taught by online instructors, and the content is primarily delivered through the internet. Online school programs provide a very flexible, differentiated environment for learners. Students who are at various academic levels can benefit from online classes – including gifted learners who are looking for Advanced Placement classes. Our Online program provides a unique opportunity where students can learn at their pace and not have to worry about keeping up with the rest of the class.
