 Chemistry Semester 2 (LAB)
  • Recommended Grade Level: 9-12
  • Course Credits: 0.5
  • Course Price: $299.00

Course Overview:

In this semester, we look at a variety of concepts in chemistry. First, we describe the gas laws, and how pressure, volume, and temperature are related. We delve briefly into types of mixtures and solutions, before discussing the importance of enthalpy and entropy in thermochemical equations. Next, we look at different models describing acids and bases, as well as redox reactions and their use in in voltaic cells. We go over naming rules for hydrocarbons and functional groups in organic chemistry, followed by a brief incursion into some of these organic compounds (such as lipids, carbohydrates, proteins, and nucleic acids) within cells. You will learn about the current and future applications of chemistry in the real-world including case studies looking at chemical treatment processes. Finally, we end this course by describing the field of chemical engineering and process design and use solar cells as an example study.

Note: This course is not designed for ELL (English Language Learners) students. ELL students may enroll in this course ONLY if they have adequate mentor support at their home school and are able to fulfill all course requirements.
