Spanish I Semester 1 (v.RC – Intro to Spanish)

Recommended Grade Level: 9 - 12

This introductory course in the Spanish language exposes the student to the rich history of the Spanish language. Students learn about the importance of learning this world language. They begin their study of this language starting from the alphabet and learn to make connections to the English language. They learn the basics of addressing people, expressing feelings, understanding familial relationships, food, clothing, professions etc. Students are exposed to the basics of grammar including common adjectives, verbs, reflexive verbs, verb conjugations and talking about the past.

In this course, learners understand the meaning of spoken and written words / sentences to share information, reactions, feelings, and opinions. Learners understand, interpret, and analyze what is heard, read, or viewed on a variety of topics.Learners use the language to investigate, explain, and reflect on the nature of language through comparisons of the language studied and their own.
