Comprehensive Algebra I

This course helps the student understand the meaning, significance and objectives of Algebra. The different types of functions, including exponential, linear and quadratic functions are described. The student acquires the knowledge and skills necessary to understand the principles and requirements of solving various problems using functions. This course helps the student understand the meaning, significance and objectives of Algebra. The different types of functions, including exponential, linear and quadratic functions are discussed in greater depth. Student works with polynomials and tries to solve equations with polynomials. The student acquires the knowledge and skills necessary to arrive at the domain, range and roots of a function. The student explores representing functions as graphs and tables. Linear equations and inequalities are discussed along with an in-depth understanding of slope and slope-intercepts of lines. Student understands how the parameters of a function will affect the properties of its graph. The student explores the relevance and applications of understanding word problems and interpreting them in terms of equations. Student understands how to interpret functions and write the correct equations. This course demonstrates to the student how the same algebraic techniques can be applied to various situations.
